Program description:
The Pre-Law Society (PLS) Legal Edge Undergraduate Internship Program, initiated in the Fall of 2023, is a student-led initiative designed exclusively for members of the Pre-Law Society. This program connects undergraduate students with practicing attorneys in a variety of legal fields, such as corporate law, immigration law, family law, criminal law, business law, and more. These internships provide students with hands-on legal experience, professional mentorship, and networking opportunities, helping them build a competitive edge for law school and future legal careers. Last year, our members secured 12 internships through the Legal Edge Undergraduate Internship Program, and we are committed to expanding the available options to create more opportunities for our members!

My internship experience at Mendez Law, PLLC has truly been life-changing. I have grown so much as both a person and an pre law student. I am so blessed to have been given the opportunity to learn more about immigration and criminal law. From shadowing my selected attorney at court, filing asylum cases, and writing and drafting declarations for hearings, I was able to truly immerse myself into what its like to work at a law firm full time. Fueling my passion, I am now confident that I can become the lawyer I always wanted to be.

My internship experience was nothing short of rewarding. It was a reality check of how lawyers work in the corporate field, and prepared me with what the immigration process was really like. I got to assess cases, write letters, organize files, and take calls for the office. My internship experience set me up for other opportunities, including the immigration law firm I currently work at. It has also shaped me into a more resilient person, and has allowed me to improve upon my administrative and leadership skills -- especially with this being my first law based internship.
