Future Legal Leaders Scholarship
Beginning 2024, The UH Pre-Law Society is proud to offer a scholarship designed to support its most dedicated members in their pursuit of a legal career. This scholarship will cover the full expenses of the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) registration for five outstanding Honors members. CAS is a crucial step in the law school application process, providing a streamlined way to collect and organize transcripts, letters of recommendation, and other necessary materials for admission.
This scholarship aims to alleviate some of the financial barriers to applying to law school and help recipients take a step closer to achieving their professional goals.
Scholarship applications for the 2025 fall semester are officially closed. Applications for the Spring 2026 semester will open late spring.

Eligibility
Must be an active Honors member of the UH Pre-Law Society. If you have any questions regarding your membership status, feel free to check your points in the Membership section on our website, or reach out to our Membership Coordinator, Ore Ogunjobi.

Application Requirements
Completed scholarship application form. (Application can be found at the bottom of the page)
A short personal statement (300-500 words) detailing your legal aspirations and how the UH Pre-Law Society has supported you through your journey to law school.

Awards
Recipients will be notified via email with instructions on how to claim their award. In addition to having their CAS registration fees covered, recipients will be presented with an official certificate of recognition. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to be featured on our website and official Instagram page, celebrating their achievement and showcasing their commitment to academic excellence and a future in law.
Meet the Fall 2025 Scholarship Recipients
Cristina Hernandez
The though of pursuing law has always came to me during early stages within my life before attending college. My passion truly intensified during the current harsh realities of mass ICE raids within the United States. Court case Vazquez Perdomo v. Noem only intensified the legal battles countless immigrant families endured, however so did my passion to pursue specially immigration law. By experiencing these first hand fear within immigrant communities and the separation of families and even my mothers journey. Has intensely ignited my passion to pursue law and inspire other first-generation minorities who hope to follow the same path to pursue law.
Richard Sebastian
My passion for law stems from witnessing injustice firsthand, which resulted in the loss of my grandfather. Seeing the tears of hope lost from a system that was supposed to protect and advocate for him motivates me to hold that same system accountable and ensure it serves its true purpose. As the first in my family to pursue a career in law, I aspire to restore people’s faith in justice and equality to show that the law is not meant to fail them, but to uplift them.
Sophia Mata
Being the first in my family to pursue a career in law has brought a lot of uncertainty and unknowns. Being a part of Pre-Law Society has been very helpful in helping me understand what it takes to be successful in the legal field. Providing me with community, resources, and guidance, this organization has solidified my passion to make meaningful change in the world.

Riziki Kimani
My name is Riziki Kimani, and I am an Environmental Science major passionate about environmental justice and creating healthier, more sustainable communities. My studies taught me how much clean air, walkable neighborhoods, and access to fresh food can shape someone’s quality of life, and growing up in Dallas showed me how unevenly those benefits are distributed in Black and brown communities. My formal education, alongside my lived experience, pushes me towards environmental law, where I hope to advocate for sustainable policies and fight for the communities that are too often overlooked.
